Beef Stew with Dumplings

  • 1 x Packet of GR Slow Comfortable Stew Sauce Mix
  • 1 x 450g Diced Lean Beef
  • 1 x 450g Diced Carrot & Swede
  • 1 x Large Onion, chopped
  • 1 x 450g Potatoes
  • 2 Tablespoon Tomato Puree
  • 1 x 565ml (1 pint) Water
  • 150g Self-Raising Flour (or GF alternative)
  • 70g Suet
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Salt
  • 3 Tablespoon Cold Water
  • Small Handful of Parsley, chopped (optional)

Method

  1. Place the beef, carrot, swede, onion, potatoes and tomato puree into your slow cooker pot.
  2. Blend the Slow Comfortable Stew Sauce Mix with water (565ml) and add to the slow cooker pot, stir thoroughly.
  3. Cover and cook for 4 hours on HIGH or 8 hours on MEDIUM until the meat is tender and cooked through (keep covered during cooking, cooking times may vary between slow cooker models).
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Now, stir in the suet and parsley (optional).
  5. When combined, make a well in the centre of the mixture. Add in 3 tbsp of water and mix until the dough is firm but malleable.
  6. Divide into 8 equal pieces and roll into balls and chill in the fridge.
  7. An hour before serving, cover the stew with the dumplings. Allow to cook for another hour.
  8. Remove the lid and stand for 5 minutes before serving.
